Linocuts

Linocuts are relief prints made with a block of linoleum. The desired image is carved into the linoleum, covered with ink, and pressed against a piece of paper. A limited number of prints are "pulled" from each block -- referred to as a "limited edition."

Prices for the linocuts range from $25 for the smaller prints to $35 for the larger ones.

First State (black and white) Edition of 100 plus 10 Artist's Proofs.
Printed on Tableau.
A favorite activity of summer visitors to Ketchikan is renting kayaks and paddling around our busy waterfront. Competition for the space comes from a variety of sources -- other boats, fishers casting off the bridge, seals.

Cormorant Sunrise

7" x 5", ©1995
Edition of 100 plus 10 Artist's Proofs.
Printed on Arches Textwove.
Since Cormorants don't have the oil glands other water birds have to help them shed water, they must hang their wings out to dry. Something about that posture has always moved me; they look so dignified and vulnerable simultaneously.

Although we don't have sea otters in the protected waters in the immediate area of Ketchikan, they live in the outside waters not far from here.

Nothing evokes a peaceful feeling
for me better than a Great Blue Heron
fishing the shallows at dusk.
