Direct Gyotaku

Direct gyotaku  are made by applying ink directly to the fish. Cloth or paper is laid over the inked fish, and an impression made by gently pressing the cloth or paper to every part of the fish. See "How to Print an Octopus" and "How to Print a Big Fish" for examples of the direct printing technique.

Prices for direct gyotaku  range from $45 to $250.
